At Telluride Music Co., we are honored to be an Authorized Dealer of C.F. Martin guitars. Handcrafted in Nazareth, Pa., Martin’s 16-Series offers fine-sounding—and hard-working—instruments constructed of fine quality solid woods. The Martin 000-16GT features a 14-fret 000-body that is comfortable to play and produces a mellower sound than its dreadnought counterparts. With a solid Sitka Spruce top and solid Mahogany back and sides, its tone is warm and rich, but it still packs plenty of punch and high-end detail. As for playability, the 000-16GT has a modified low oval neck paired with a 1-11/16″ nut width. The result is a fast, playable feel that is an excellent complement for the comfortable feel of the Auditorium-size body. True to all the 16-series models, the 000-16GT employs Martin’s “Simple” Dovetail neck joint, which is a refined design of the original dovetail design. The simple dovetail still allows for excellent sound transfer through the neck because the joint maximizes surface area, but this neck joint is much easier to produce, so it brings the cost down considerably from Standard Series models. When you combine the simple dovetail neck joint with stripped down features such as simple, unadorned binding and satin finish on the back and sides, you’re paying for the quality of the instrument itself, not pricy upper-end features. Overall, the Martin 000-16GT offers great tone and superior craftsmanship at an extremely reasonable price. The 16-series models continue to be among the best values on our wall.
