2016 marks 100 years of the Martin dreadnought. Over those 100 years, Martin’s dreadnought body has been perhaps the most influential—and easily the most copied—design across the whole guitar industry, inspiring generations of players. The Martin HD-35 is interesting combination of two iconic Martin dreadnoughts. It features the unique three-piece back construction of the D-35, but it has the herringbone top purfling and scallopped braces of an HD-28. This 2011 HD-35 Ambertone is a versatile instrument with crisp, clear and cutting tone and a responsive feel. This one also has headroom for days. It features a gorgeous three-piece East Indian Rosewood back with two book-matched outer pieces and a center piece with beautifully contrasting grain. While this design provides a beautiful aesthetic, it helps with the guitar’s clarity and projection. The scallopped braces allow the solid Sitka Spruce top to move a bit more freely, so this HD-35 has a wide dynamic range and accurate response. Of course, the tone remains big, fat and full—everything you could want from a Martin dreadnought. This 2011 HD-35 was ordered with a stunning Ambertone Sunburst finish, which is no longer offered on this model. It’s a shame, too, because this one is gorgeous. This 2011 Martin HD-35 is in excellent condition with no history of repairs or issues. Please call (970) 728-9592 or e-mail for an in-hand description.
